The Iranian pistachio industry is preparing for the 2025 harvest season, and early indicators point to significant market dynamics that buyers should understand.
Favorable winter chilling hours and adequate spring rainfall in Kerman province suggest a strong on-year in the alternate-bearing cycle. Industry estimates project a harvest of 180,000-200,000 metric tons, up from approximately 140,000 tons in the previous off-year.
Chinese demand continues to grow, with imports up 15% year-over-year. European demand remains stable, while new markets in Southeast Asia and Africa show promising growth. The Indian market, traditionally a strong buyer of Iranian pistachios, is expected to increase imports following reduced tariffs.
